GSP UPDATE: India and Turkey

U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer announced March 04, 2019 that President Trump intends to terminate the eligibility of India and Turkey as beneficiary developing countries under the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) program because they no longer comply with the statutory eligibility criteria. These changes will be enacted by a presidential proclamation which will not take effect until at least around May 3, 2019.

Flegenheimer International would like to inform you that once the proclamation takes effect, thousands of products imported from these two countries will no longer be eligible for duty-free treatment under GSP.

We will continue to monitor and provide updates regarding the presidential proclamation.
