FDA Biennial Registration Renewal

The FDA biennial registration renewal system will be available starting at 12:01 am on Monday, October 22, 2012.  All food producers and manufacturers, both foreign and domestic, are required to complete the biennial registration renewal prior to December 31, 2012.

The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) requires additional information to be obtained from facilities, including:  an e-mail address for the contact person of a domestic facility; an e-mail address for the U.S. agent for a foreign facility; assurance that FDA will be permitted to inspect the facility at the times and in the manner permitted by the FD&C Act;  and expanded food categories for certain foods.

FDA has released an updated guide, Guidance for Industry: Necessity of the Use of Food Product Categories in Food Facility Registrations and Updates to Food Product Categories which provides information on the expanded food categories.

Please note: One of the expanded categories is the Fishery/Seafood Product Categories.
